Lasagna Mulch

"Lasagna Mulch" is a means of removing lawns or creating a weed barrier using compost, mulch and recycled cardboard. By layering these materials you can create a "process" which kills weeds or lawns and creates a rich fortified soil for future planting without digging up your old lawn and hauling it to the landfill!

First Layer

All Green Compost        $27.00 / cubic yard

All Green Compost is made from green waste materials such as grass clippings, leaves and branches that landscape companies and home owners bring to Grab N’ Grow. We grind these materials, add Urea, Calcium Nitrate, Single Super Phosphate, Iron Sulphate and Oyster Shell Flour and compost them at a minimum 131° F. All Green Compost has a neutral pH and can be used in a wide variety of landscape planting. It's a great soil conditioner to break up adobe/clay soil and provide moisture retention in sandy soil.

Second Layer

Cardboard

Grab N’ Grow offers recycled cardboard rolls in the following sizes:

36" X 250ft        $59.85

48" X 250ft        $79.80

72" X 250ft        $119.70

Third Layer

Arbor Mulch -         $16.50 / cubic yard

Arbor Mulch is our popular "UPcycled" OMRI listed organic mulch. Arbor Mulch consists of soft woods such as pine, alder, fir, poplar, redwood and acacia which are ground into small pieces including “fines.” It's the perfect solution for mulching around your plants. Arbor Mulch also makes an attractive ground cover that helps retain moisture in the soil, control weeds and help with erosion.

To remove your lawn or create a weed barrier, follow these simple instructions:

Step 1:   Begin by mowing your lawn or cutting your weeds to a short height. Then spread 2 to 3 inches of All Green Compost as “starter” over the lawn or weeds, or use OMRI listed Organic Vineyard Compost (same price).

Step 2:   Roll out cardboard over the All Green Compost overlapping the edges approximately six inches.

Step 3:   Cover our recycled cardboard with 3 to 4 inches of Arbor Mulch. Over the course of several weeks the lawn or weeds will decompose and mix with the "All Green Compost." After 8 to 10 months, the cardboard should break down and become part of the soil.
